Question

adjournment

My motion date where I was asking for my 18.7 year old son to be emancipated was for the 30th of March. When I didn't hear anything by the 4th of April, I called the Law Clerk. I was then told that the judge had entered an adjournment and would decide the case on April 13. The other party refuses to accept my notice of motion, though I provided the court with my proof of service with the USPS, therefore she has not responded to the motion. Why would the judge do that? What does it mean?

Answer

Re: adjournment

There's no way for any of us to tell what a judge would be thinking. I suggest you get an attorney to help you serve the motion.
