Paid off auto loan back in '98 with Avco Financial. Recently foundfrom DMV they still have a lien on title. Avco has been bought out several times -How can I get a hold of someone with my records?
You should try the CitiFinancial consumer loan branch in the city where your transaction occurred. They may have historical records (or know where to find them) although, being over 10 years, the paper records will probably have been destroyed but with any luck, there is supporting electronic data.
