My fiancee wants to legally adopt my daughter whom I have full custody of. Do we need to get her father (my ex-husband) to sign over his rights or can we just petition the courts to allow the adoption after we get married? My ex and I were married at the time of her conception and birth and he did sign her birth certificate.
