Question

Hello. I rented a car in the state of Virginia. I did not buy the car rental insurance because I have auto insurance. I hit a deer while driving the rental car. My car insurance reimbursed the rental company for the damages to the rental car. I have since received a bill from the car rental company for administrative fees, diminishment of value and loss of use. Am I responsible for those extraneous fees? Thank you.

Answer

Yes, possibly, one, all, or, perhaps, even none, depending upon the kind of evidence offered to prove the company's loss with respect to each of these elements and within the context of the car rental contract which you signed (in my opinion).
