How is a battery leakage test conducted?

How is a battery leakage test conducted?
Set your voltmeter to a low DC Volt range. Connect the negative lead to the battery's negative post. Then move the meter's positive lead across the top and sides of the battery case. If some voltage is read on the meter, current is leaking out of the battery. The battery should be cleaned and then rechecked, If voltage is again measured, the battery should be REPLACED; the case is porous or cracked!
BE CAREFUL BATTERY'S CONTAIN HARMFUL GASES, FUMES, & ACID! WEAR GLOVES AND BE SMART ABOUT THIS! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING PLEASE BRING TO A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC or SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THERE DOING!
