I am looking to
go back 7 years amend my return
and take a deduction.
I sued an atty and got a 100,000 judgement
for malpractice because he caused me
a loss and the judgement is uncollectable.
Can I go back 7 years and amend my return
(I had high income that year)
under the bad debt rule
that let's me go back 7 years
and amend my return.
Any other way to write it off
in that year.
Can you help me do this if it is possible
Thanks ,
Walter Boes
Answer
Why is the judgment uncollectible? Was it discharged in bankruptcy 7 years ago? There needs to be some event that makes it uncollectible under the bad debt rule, just failing to pay is not enough....
