I recently did a search of my name on the Va Circuit Court Case website. To my disbelief, my name came up in 4 felony cases from 1998. My name is listed as an AKA for the person that was convicted. I called the clerks office and they said it was nothing they could do, consult an attorney. What can I do? I am concerned that the convictions will show up in background checks for jobs I may apply for in the future.
Answer
As long as it's an AKA, I doubt that you have little
cause for concern since such would likely indicate that
that name is not the felon's true name and therefore should
bear no valid relationship to your (true) name.
