Once he was diagnosed, he started receiving short term disablity through his job which lasted until September 9, 2011. He was approved for his Social Security Disablity Benefits, but he we will not start receive his first check until October 26, 2011. Is he entitled to a lump sum or back pay from Social Security dating back to March when he first applied? He was told he could not receive back pay because he was on short term disability.
