When you have a bench warrant out for you, resulting from a failure to appear on a traffic ticket in the state of MD, how soon does the police start looking for you?
Answer
They can start looking for you as soon as they receive the warrant. More than likely should they spot your car on the road, stop you for some other reason, or by using your easy pass, they can run your through their computer and see a warrant has been issued, at which time they will arrest you.
Answer
While the police might start looking for you immediately, warrants are served according to police resources and the risk that the person sought poses to public safety. Of course if a police officer learns your identity for any reason and that you have an outstanding warrant, then the police officer would probably arrest you whether he or she had been searching for you or not. The best thing to do is to either move to have the bench warrant recalled or surrender. You should make arrangements for bail before you surrender, so that you do not have to wait in detention any longer then necessary.
Answer
My advice is hire a lawyer before you surrender.
