My ex-wife is looking at moving to Alaska with our children. We currently live in Spokane WA. We have a boy 12 and a girl 9 who neither want to move and would like to live with my fiance and me. Would it be more beneficial to gain custody or at the very least block her from moving kids so far away if my fiance and i were married? Or will our being engaged be strong enough? We both have good jobs that we've been at for awhile, and have a stable home life.

Answer

Your being married should not make a significant difference in the outcome of a child relocation action. I presume that your Parenting Plan has a relocation provision (they have been required for several years). During the relocation process you have an opportunity to object and propose an alternative parenting plan.
