I am acquiring about an issue that is happening within the company that I am working for. I am a senior Electronic Technician. It came across me today that another person that is an Intermediate Electronic Technician from the same company is getting paid $6.00 an hour more than I am. Does this constitute any illegal actions from the company? This same person has less knowledge in the position than I do and I have to teach this person on how to do various aspects of the job. I am currently in a management position right now. I am his senior. Please let me know if there is any discrimination laws or wage laws that coexists with this situation. I am working overseas in Afghanistan with a company based in Virginia.
Answer
Probably, not, if no employment contracts or collective bargaining type of
agreements are involved which would prohibit the disparity in pay as described.
