How much did gasoline cost in Britain in 1965?
The AA website has a PDF list of average petrol prices per year from 1886 to the present, all prices in New Pence equivalent. From this list, the average price of 4* in 1965 is given as 62p a gallon, which translates as about 12/4d (twelve shillings and four pence).
