What crimes qualify for prosecution under the federal Armed Carrer Criminal Act
Answer
ARMED CAREER CRIMINAL ACT, a/k/a (ACCA)--Under federal law, any crime involving a violent felony or serious drug crime in which a defendant allegedly has used or possessed a firearm and of which a defendant so charged has already been convicted of at least twice before is potentially prosecutable under this ACT which upon conviction calls for a minimum sentence of 15 years with a maximum of life imprisonment.
Felony DUI does not qualify as such a crime. See Begay v. U.S. 553 U.S. 558 (2008).
