I signed a contract for a home purchase, but have not paid the binder. At this point, I want to back out of the purchase. What are the legal ramifications of doing so?

You need to take your contract to an attorney and review it with the attorney. It is impossible to answer this question without reviewing the paperwork. There is no standard damage which would apply.
