Question

Received a carless driving ticket for looking at a newspaper at traffic light. Police office was behind me and I knew that, but did not know there was anything wrong by looking at newspaper at stop light. He claimed my car was still in drive, there fore it was carless. Does this make sense?

Answer

It makes cents, not sense. He seems to be trying to meet some kind of ticket quota in these

hard times when towns rely on the income from traffic tickets as part of their budgets.

Call me if you like.

Answer

I would be willing to take this case to trial under the scenario you describe. Please contact me for a free consultation. Thank you.

Answer

I would plead not guilty and consider taking it to trial. It would really be up to judge to decide if looking at the News paper while you are stopped at a light constitutes careless driving. I agree with Mr. Moore, it sounds like a need to raise revenue for the town, but again it is ultimately up to a Court, please feel free to call (201)-894-9498 to discuss it further, I never charge just to speak to someone about their case.
